Our Story

The work and activism of our parents, Dr. David Light and Lauryn Koke, have inspired us to start this foundation. Dr. Light is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in breast cancer reconstruction. Lauryn Koke is the Immediate Past President of Pink Aid Long Island, a local charity that assists underserved and underinsured breast cancer patients with basic needs.

We have watched them support, treat and fundraise tirelessly for families affected by this disease which led us to ask the question...If the parents need assistance with things like rent, food, and daily utility bills, then how can they provide the daily essentials their children need for school?

It is our mission to collect backpacks and school supplies for these children and we are asking for your support to help us achieve this goal. This past year, we successfully collected 275 backpacks and school supply packs and distributed them to 8 local breast cancer coalitions on Long Island. We are excited to increase our goal this year to 500 backpacks and school supply packs! We can’t wait to help provide daily necessities to even more families impacted by breast cancer!
